Today started out great, the sun was high in the sky and it was a comfortable 71* at Glacier Lake. We wanted
to go to our favorite spot but their was a man and his grandson Adam fishing there. Adam was a 6 yr old young man who was
fishing for his first time and boy did he show us what fishing was about. His first ever catch was a nice 11 Rainbow Trout,
he was so excited when he caught it and we were happy for him. They were going to throw the trout back but I told him
you cannot release a trout back to the waters, they die so he graciously gave us his catch and I say thanks again Adam we
added him to our collection of trout. Scooter caught the first fish of the season, it was a 13" trout we named Jimbo for Uncle
Jimmie who passed away and never made it out fishing with us. I promised him I would dedicate our first catch of the season to
him, here's to you Uncle Jimmy we love you RIP. I wasn't doing as well, I was catching everything but a fish, hmmm my shoe,
logs, my shirt and the worst, I wrapped my line around my pole after yanking it out of the water, what a mess, winter was
too long and I got rusty... Well I finally got with it and caught a 12" trout, Scooter and I were even now.. He met my trout
and added another 14" trout to our catches. Gheez guess my "Bite Me Bait Attractant" really got stinky over the winter. Those
fish were going wild. I latched onto a nice 11" channel cat and Scooter got a 13" blue catfish, we were on a roll. Adam and
his grandpa left and we took over our favorite spot. We were jammin' with the oldies on mix 98.9, the fish was hitting
like no tommorow. Scooter added a few 3" and 4" blue gill. I got the munchies so I set my pole down on my rod rest and what
would you know, as soon as I looked down to take a bite of my Nutty Bar I got a nice hit, the fish latched and ran, I thought
I was going to have to dive into the water for my pole but I caught it in time. I don't know what took my pole but it took
the hook too, it never figures as soon as these darn fish hear the rattling of the plastic wrapping they want to take
your line. We had a great day altogether we ended up with 4 blue gill, 4 catfish and 5 rainbow trout, 4 ours, 1 Adam's fish.
We headed back home around 4 pm for a nice dinner of barbeque babyback ribs and homemade mac -n- cheese. What a great day
on the lake can't wait to hit Newport this week.
