Are you always in search of the perfect fishing bait, well try some of these techniques, last year we brought home a nice variety of fish using some of these lures, they have been passed down to us from anglers throughout the tri-county area.

Last year while out at Mosquito Lake an older angler told us he swears by cooked shrimp as a way of driving the fish wild so we gave it a try. We purchased a bag of Salad shrimp out of the local grocery store fish market, he was right on that one, Channel Cats love the shrimp along with perch, bass, blue gill and crappie. You don't have to use salad shrimp, you can use mediums and just break them in half.
Add a little Power Mate live bait spray and you will create a fishing frenzy that will keep you busy for hours...

Another angler told us about using whole kernal corn for trout, we haven't tried this one yet but the anglers down at Glacier Lake seemed to be pulling Rainbow Trout in one after another.

I still swear by a nice big fat Canadian Night Crawler coated by a nice flourescent Power Mait spray.

The other day Scooter and I stopped by the local sporting goods shop for some worms for fishing and much to my surprise they carried Green Worms.. I had to ask the young gentleman working in sporting goods if this was a joke and he insured me it wasn't and allowed me to pull one up outta the dirt and to my amazement the darn thing was floresent green so I just had to pick up some and try them and they really do work, Catfish love them, next time you're out at Dick's ask for green worms, you'll be amazed!!!!

Power bait sprays are great for attracting all kinds of fish, the flourecent greens do real well with crappie, bluegill, bass and perch. Catfish seem to go for the power bait sprays. Don't waste your money on the power bait balls, some swear by them but we never had much luck with them.

If you want to try a recipe for the pickiest gourmet feeders try this Trout dough, who would have known trout was into cheese and garlic??

1/4 lb. Velveeta cheese

Directions

* Place the velveeta in a small microwave safe bowl and nuke until melted.
* Mix water, melted cheese, flour, cornmeal, sugar and garlic powder together in a mixing bowl until well blended and it forms a heavy dough
* Fill a large stock pot with water, bringing it to a rapid boil. Pinch off dough and roll forming it into small balls.
Drop balls into the boiling water a few at a time and let boil about 1-2 min.

Kat's Fishy Garlic Treat

I've been working diligently in my kitchen to create a fish attractant that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and was able to come up with this garlic treat that will bring in the big guys. It really does work folks..
When I was looking around the sporting goods section at Walmart I saw that they carry a garlic spray that runs about $7.96, I looked at the ingredients within the mixture and saw it contained garlic and salt. That gave me an idea to create my own fish attractant. I made mine in a marichino cherry jar and let it sit for about a week to forment. I tried it at 3 different lakes and had great results with it.
I hope you try out this recipe, then let me know what your experience is with it...The longer you leave it set and forment the better it works. I made my jar about a month ago and still use it, it stinks to all high heaven but the smellier the better....
Good Luck..
