Today was a great day to be out on the lake, the temperature was perfect and the sun was high in the sky so Scooter and
I packed up and headed out to West Branch State Park. We got there around 10:30 and the first place we headed was down by
the boat launchings. The water was really rough though, we caught about 4 in the first hour, mostly perch and blue gill. Scooter
managed to latch onto a nice big bass but about 3 ft from shore it broke loose and headed back out to the big waters.
We stayed there for about an hour and a half, had a nice picnic lunch and checked out some more spots. We headed down
towards the Marina being we needed more worms, we were feeding the fish more than we were catching them by the boat docks.
We tried our luck on the bridge by the boats but once again the waters were really rough and there was no shade so we only
stayed about 45 min. Our next move brought us to a nice shady location back in the woods a bit but totally relaxing. The man
before us had caught a walleye and a few big cats but threw them back before leaving. We had a lot of hits but mostly small
guys and one nice sized snapping turtle who kept stealing our bait then would come up out of the water as to say haha I've
been stealing all your worms. It was getting late and I wanted to catch some news so we ended our day there with the idea
that being we had such a nice relaxing day we would go back out tomorrow with our buddies Butch and Sassy for a true family
outing.
