Today was a great day to take a spontaneous fishing trip, the sun was high in the sky and the temperature was just right.
We set out to get some worms at Walmart which ended up being a disaster, if you buy worms there make sure you check them,
most of the ones we got was dead and decomposing so we ended up taking them back and getting some "LIVE" bait. We got to our
favorite spot out on Newport Lake in Mill Creek Park and the fish were hitting like crazy, the catfish were in rare form today.
I managed to latch onto a good 1/2 dozen but 3 did thier usual houdini trick and got off right at the waters edge. Scooter
latched onto a few also. After a few hours we decided to change locations and went over to Glacier Lake where Scooter outfished
me on quantity, he was reeling in blue gill like there was no tomorrow but none of any size. About 4:30 pm I was about to
give it up when I got lucky and got a major WAHOOOOOOOOO hit. A nice 17" Carp hit my line hard and was running with my line.
He jumped a few times to try to get off but just set the hook deeper. My pole was bent in half and Scooter had to help me
drag this wild thing in with the net. We got him up on shore and got a great photo op with he and I. Whew, I was exhausted
and was ready to come home after that one but Scooter wanted to see if he could latch onto one too but just catching
bluegill.. It was a great day on the lake and a great day to spend some of the quality time I always enjoy sharing with my
fishing buddy, my huney, my best friend and the man I am so very much in love with even after 10 years ...
