Whew, the temperatures finally cooled down so Scooter and I packed up our gear and headed to our favorite spot on Lake
Newport.. The fish seemed to be quite playful today jumping all around.. It took a green worm and a squirt of our colorful
attractant to latch onto my first catfish. She was an 8" channel and gave me a decent fight to get her in. Scooter matched
my catch with a cat of his own... We always joke and say it takes us to either get something out to eat or have to take a
walk into the woods to, well we all know what that means (pee) to get the fish biting. I had just pulled out my bottle of
ice tea and turned to say something to Scooter when my next buddy hit my line. This one was a 12" channel cat that took me
down and was heading back out to play with his buddies but I had him hooked way too well to get away. It began to rain lightly
but we didn't mind getting a nice summer shower. After seeing my buddies liked the green worms Scooter decided to try one
and latched onto a nice 8" catfish.. Altogether we caught 6 between us but all catfish.. I guess the cats like the sight of
a good glow worm... We fished for about 4 hours before the rain came harder.. We had some fun and enjoyed a day of quality
time, just what the Dr. ordered....
