Today was a great day to be in the great outdoors but once again our weather men/women were
wrong, what happened to 80* and sunny, NOT, more like 75* and rain or at least where we went. The day started out on a sad
note, on our way to the lake we stopped at the local gas station for some smokes for huney when he was approached by the tiniest
like sweet kitten just barely if she was 5-6 weeks old. Scooter brought her over to the truck and it was hard not to just
snuggle the little animal up but only one problem, I'm allergic to cats, aaagggghhhh. We didn't know what to do with her so
we brought her to the local Animal Charities so maybe she could have some chance at a life, Our hearts went out to her and
I pray she finds a good home...
After our kitty dilemma we headed to Newport Lake to our special little spot in the woods.. Fishing was awesome today
we both were reeling them in left and right, everything from perch to catfish to large and small mouth bass, guess nobody
feeds the big boys over in Newport!!! All together we caught a good 1 1/2 dozen not counting the ones who were able
to get off before we got them to shore. We had our usual little contest as to who could catch the most, and who could catch
the biggest. Scooter beat me hands down on the biggest. I was able to bring in a nice 11" large mouth while Scooter's hit
a good 12 1/2" and 2 lbs. He did catch the daddy of the bass but as he got it to shore it wiggled it's way off the
line, guess he didn't hook it good enough. The fish had a feast on our backyard red worms, corn and squirt combination..
The catfish loved my homemade "Bite Me" attractant made with garlic and tuna fish mixed with Baitmait red squirt...
The clouds moved in about 3 and we got a nice little shower??? Hey what happened to the sun, oh well it didn't last long
and honestly it was a bit refreshing and neither one of us melted, it just made the fish nuttier... We release most of the
fish because they were pregnant catfish, we must have hit a spawning bed..
5pm rolled around and we were on our last few worms. My last catch of the day was a nice 9" small mouth bass. My neighbor's
buddy loves fish so we thought we would bring him back a nice snack.. All and all it turned out to be a great day to not
only be together but to be alive!!!!!
