Today was a great day to hit the lakes, Scooter and I decided to try our luck at a new lake we had never been to so we packed up the gear and pups and headed out to Portage Lakes. There were several lakes to choose from but we tried Turkey Foot and had lots of fun. Within the first 45 min. Scooter had reeled in a nice 13" large mouth bass we nicknamed "Big Mouth",  two  blue gill 8" and 7", and a rock bass 9". He was on a roll with his new squirt, corn and red worms. I on the other hand was getting nothing regardless of where I moved to.  Scooter had a busy day and wore himself out, we joked that it was like a job today cause the fish were going crazy. Around 2 pm my luck finally changed after I pulled out my homemade fish goop, the fish loved the garlicky fish smell and I was able to reel in about 4 nice size ones myself. Another couple came over to where we were and had said they were in another area and was only catching 3-4" gills so they tried their luck on the docks and was able to bring in a good 8 nice size gills themselves after I introduced them to my goop. We got a good laugh when the lady caught 2 gills on one hook, how she managed to do that was beyond me but I was happy to see they were having a good time also. I gave them 3 of my 8" blue gill and Scooter gave them 1 cause they weren't catching anything at first, I didn't mind sharing our wealth in fish, I enjoy giving back just to see happiness in others. 4:00 rolled in and I was getting hungry, the pups were getting restless and we knew we had a good drive ahead of us so we packed up and headed back home with big mouth and a nice sized gill Scooter thought was a rock bass but wasn't.  We didn't feel like cleaning the fish we were both exhausted so we orphaned them to our neighbor in good faith. I hope he enjoyed the fresh catch, I can't wait to hit the lakes again!!!!!
