Today turned out to be a day beyond belief, after finishing up the yard work Scooter and I decided to take a leisurily trip to Glacier Lake to do some fishing. We decided to hit a new spot this time down by the dam and was cleaning up between blue gill and crappie. The sun was getting hot and I was getting getting dark so about 2:00 we decided to head over to Newport Lake to a secluded area in the woods. We were reeling them in there too. I caught my first big guy of the day, a 16" carp and Scooter matched mine within the next hour. I pulled out my secret weapon, my fish attractant I made last year with oil, garlic cloves, garlic powder and tuna fish and to my surprise I landed a very odd looking bass I named Frisky, he was a battle in a half. At first I thought he was a small mouth but upon looking at him further I realized a caught what is known as a peacock bass. His fins and dot on his tail was what was inquizative about him and the striping on his body. He was 12" and one heck of a fight. I was hoping to bring him home for my fish tank but the greedy gut swallowed my jighead and I couldn't get it out without ripping him up but eventually he died anyway. This was a moment in pictures for me, I was thrilled and can't wait to get back to the lake to try to latch onto more of these guys but cold weather is heading back to the hood so I guess we're just gonna hafta wait...
