Scooter and I decided to be spontaneous once again and take a drive out to Lake Hodgson in Ravenna to try our hand at
a different lake this time. The fish were hitting hard but only a few were dumb enough not to let go. Being our little bait
shop on Summit St had shut down and we only had a little bait to use we gave it our best shot. I wanted to see if these fish
would go for something other than the traditional baby crawlers and red worms so I tried a few different types of lures. The
fish loved the corn, no matter what bait we used they would suck it off the hook. We wanted to see how my homemade goulosh
worked with these fish and found they loved the garlicky flavor. Scooter was able to bring in two nice sized blue gill, one
9" and one 8" . They gave him a fight but in the long run Scooter prevailed. We fished for about 3 hrs before calling it a
day being we got a late start. Lake Hodgson is a really peaceful lake if you are looking to get away from all the hustle and
bustle of everyday life but if you do head out there don't forget to buy your live bait ahead of time and don't forget the
corn!!!!
