Once again it was a beautiful morning, the Mexican family that moved in across the road woke up the entire area crowing
like rooters some of the other campers were mad but sleeping out in the woods you never know what to expect. Scooter got a
fire going while I went down the road to wash the funkiness from my body and get refreshed. We made some eggs and sausage
frome the left overs the night before. As Scooter followed suit in the showers, I cleaned up and got ready for another adventurist
day at the waters edge with my two furry friends and the love of my life. We decided to try a new area and headed down to
Lake Milton to see what we could do. we found a nice shady spot but the fish didn't seem to be too hungry. Scooter caught
a small bass by an old tree but nothing worth writing home about. We all were getting bored and the pups needed some run time
so we packed up and headed back to Berlin Dam. We seemed to be doing well that day, Scooter no sooner threw out his line and
was reeling in perch, and bluegill. I caught a few myself on shrimp and whole kernal corn. By now we had just thoroughly exhausted
the puppies and they didn't do much but lay around and sleep. A boater close by had a fine young retriever aboard his boat,
she dived off about 20 ft out to come visit Butch on shore, her owners was quite mad and had to come in to get her.
A few hours later three gentlemen came down to fish in our favorite spot with us. The two older gentleman was trying to teach
the young mentally challanged boy how to fish. I offered him some shrimp and told him how to use it. He had a few bites but
he never caught anything. Scooter had just reeled in a nice bluegill and the young man asked if he could touch the fish, so
Scooter let him take it off the hook and trow it back into the water. It really made the young gentleman's evening, his face
lit up and he had a smile from ear to ear. It really made Scooter feel good that he was able to offer such an experience to
someone who had never fished before. We fished till dusk, my last few catches were quite interesting, something latched onto
my line and took off breaking my line in the process. A boater close by said it sounded like a walleye to be able to sever
my line the way it did. I really what have loved to know what lied beneath but I wasn't willing to step another foot out into
the merky waters to find out. We packed up shop and started heading back up the bank. Scooter in all his machoness decided
to carry most of the gear and Butch and ended up falling down the big rocks by the boat launch spraining a muscle and
smacking his head, I felt really bad but I told him to let me help but you know how guys can get.. Long story short, we both
ended up coming home beat and battered and needed a vacation to recover from this vacation... As night fell, a strong storm
moved in, but I slept like a baby after I got the pups to calm down. It was an interesting 3 days but the pups were more than
a notion and something we will never take on again. I love my pups but whew, they truly wore us out..... Day 17 and Our
Final Adventure for the season- Scooter and I wanted to do something spontaneous last week so we packed up the truck, grabbed
some munchies and headed out to Mosquito Lake for our final adventure of the season. It was a bit chilly that day, the forcast
was calling for 67, NOT, maybe high 50's or low 60's. I about froze my patooties off but that wasn't going to stop me from
searching for the last big catch of the season. I mixed up a batch of fish bate containing velveeta cheese, garlic powder
a little garlic oil, some bread crumbs and a few hot dogs diced small. The fish seemed to enjoy the exotic concoxsion from
my kreative kitchen but didn't care to come out of the water any time soon. We had lots of nice hits but I guess it's been
too long and we both forgot how to fish... Scooter was able to hang onto a few blue gill but nothing worth writing home about.
We moved around to a few of my favorite spots at Mosquito but came home empty handed and froze. It was really nice just to
have that quality time together. We decided to give it up after 6 hours and head back to the hustle and bustle of life. This
year's adventures have been quite interesting and we will take it up again in the Spring. We hope you come back for a whole
new season of tales, we don't do ice fishing so have a great winter season and we will be seeing you back again in April...
