Scooter, the puppies and I all decided to take a few days to get away and go camping out at Berlin Lake. We left
early Thursday morning so we could get to our reserved spot, get set up and be able to spend some quality fishing time together.
It was hot that day and we had a hard time finding some shade, the puppies wanted to play but we had to keep them leashed
up which didn't make it much fun for them. Butchand I decided to cool down in the lake, ahhh, refreshing. Sassy didn't like
the water too well but I took her out with me just to cool down. Nothing was biting too tough Around 3:00pm I latched
onto some strange looking creature, it was about 2 1/2 ft long and looked quite strange. A couple down the way was able to
identify this thing as a fresh water jelly fish, yuck, and to think I was out wading in the water with this thing. I reeled
it up on bank and toosed it off into the woods only after taking a few pics of such a wierd and exotic creature. It was getting
a little late and I was getting a bit hungry so the pups and I started to venture back up to our campsite to make some lunch/dinner.
That turned out to be a mess and a lesson I learned, never walk an untrained male dog and an untrained female at the same
time. Butch tried to initiate every tree, bush and patch of grass he could locate and Sassy had to wrap herself around everything,
long story short, I ended up falling and spraining my knee again and boy was I mad but I was there to relax and get back to
nature. We fished till about 6:30 then headed back to camp to make some supper over the open fire. It's amazing just how good
and different pepper steaks taste cooked over a campfire, we shared in a nice hot meal and some quality time. Night fell and
storms started moving in so we crawled into our tent, we were both exhausted. Around 1:30 am we heard crunching outside the
tent, low and behold we had a huge raccoon munching on Sassy's spilled food. It was a good thing we took the pups into the
tent with us, that coon was twice her size and would have taken her out. Rocky finally ran off and we started dozing back
off again only to be awaken a few hour later by what I thought was a bear making his way around the camp grounds, I couldn't
sleep the rest of the night not knowing what was lurking about.
