We just couldn't wait to get the heck away from home so we packed up and got out to Mosquito Lake about 10 am. We stopped and got some bait and headed out to the causeway to try our luck on some of the big boys, the sun was high and hot but the fish were not biting well for us we sat there for about 3 hours before giving up on that spot and heading back to  another part of the lake.  Scooter caught a 5" small mouth bass and a 3" perch, me on the other hand all I cuaght was a bad sunburn on my tatas, face and shoulders and some golden oldies on the radio. Desperate times called for desperate measures, shhhhh, don't tell Scooter I cheated and hired a pro fisherman to catch me some nice crappies, both legal limits too... We got bored and overheated there so we headed down by the Marina to check out a few shady sites, I was beginning to think I forgot how to fish and was ready to go play with the 4 carp hanging out in the swamp close by but I gave it one more shot and caught a small blue gill about 4", he was giving me a nice fight but I won, at last!!!!. The waters were higher than I ever saw for Mosquito but Scooter didn't mind, he pulled up his hip wader and began pulling fish in left and right. Perch and Blue Gill seemed to be his specialties. He caught a nice 7" perch that we kept to add to my illegitimate catches. The day sure was flying by and we were famished so we cooked us up some dogs on the grill and had a nice little picnic before heading back out to a new spot... We picked another favorite spot but it was really flooded. thank God I had on my water shoes and Scoot had on his waders. There was a lot of crazy jumping going on all around but not serious hitting. We stayed there for a bit until I started getting pruned and launched Scooters new lighted lure in a nearby tree just about dark. The bats were dive bombing us so it was time to get out outta there and hit yet another spot back up by the marina to try our hand at some night fishing using our new lighted Bobby's, it was a pretty sight to see all along the bank folks had their lighted bobbers out on the night waters and their lanterns shining close by. 10:30 rolled around and I was exhausted, fried to the utmost and cold so we ended out adventure there.. A well deserved day out at the lake, just my baby and me...........
