Today started out with rain but nothing too significant in amounts so we packed up Sassy and Butch and headed out to
West Branch State Park. We found a new spot we had never been before and it was awesome. We were catching fish left and right,
mostly blue gill though. Scooter did have a nice 12" small mouth bass and I had a decent size perch along with my blue gill.
A young fisherman by the name of Matthew Hessa and his sister Lindsey, mom and aunt were sitting on the dock fishing. Matthew
caught a few and was astonished by Scooter reeling them in one after another. He told Scooter that "we were on fire" over
fishing in our little area which broke the ice and I just couldn't resist giving away our trade secrets being he was attempting
to use a lure. I asked if I could take a few pictures of him and his sister for Fish Tales and they were happy to oblige.
Every year I like to add new youngsters to Fish Tales, I enjoy watching their talents at catching the fish and how excited
they get when the do finally catch something. Scooter latched onto a nice 12" small mouth which impressed Matthew and his
family so we gladly gave him the fish, he chose to let it go being he really didn't catch anything else worth keeping which
I was glad to see. Why waste a nice fish unless you are going to eat them. Sassy and Butch had a great time down wading
in the lake and drinking the nice cool water until a black water snake was spotted and then it was back up on the bank for
them. We fished for about 7 hrs before the rain got heavier. It was raining off and on all day which made our fishing even
better. It was yet another peaceful and fulfilled day on the lake, we were both a muddy mess but nothing a nice cool
shower and washing machine couldn't fix..Thanks for the memories Matthew, Lindsey, Selena and Aunt, we hope to see you again,
try the bait attractant, corn and worm next time, it does wonders.....
