The Eternal Gift- This movie was a wonderful but sad movie about
a young man who inherits his grandfathers fortune but the only way he is able to claim it is to show worthiness. He meets
up with a young girl who is dying from cancer and builds a hospital in her name with some of the money he had inherited..
I don't want to tell you anymore, it was a wonderfully touching story!!!!!
The Great Debaters- If you are a Denzel Washington fan you
will enjoy this movie.. He plays a professor at a small negro college back in the time when slavery was still a part of the
south. He gets together a Debate team that consisted of 3 young men and a young lady and challenged other colleges all over
the United States....It was also a very controversial but realistic film, if you enjoy a good debate you'll enjoy this...
World Trade Center- In memory of the 911 disaster, this movie was
created.. Nicholas Cage plays an awesome role of a police officer who goes into the World Trade Centers with a team of other
officers to help free victims and becomes trapped himself in an elevator shaft... It was quite a tear jerker so get your tissues
ready...
The Five Heartbeats- For all you Leon fans who enjoyed the Temptations
movie, this is another that will win your heart over. It has a close resemblence to The Temptations but yet a different flavor..
If you enjoy stories about the lives of entertainers and what they go through for their fans, you will enjoy this one....
The Outsiders- This has always been a favorite of mine, starring
C. Thomas Howell,Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze to name a few. This movie is about life, and reality of different
sociatal values of children/young adults and their fight to become respected... Also another tear jerker...
The Temptations- Another one of my all time favorite starring Leon
as David Ruffin. Again if you enjoy movies about the lives of entertainers and their uphill battles to gain the respect of
the people and the American dream, you will also enjoy this one... Being a die hard Temptations fan, I really enjoyed this
one... Kudos Otis and Patricia!!!!
Hannibal Rising- If you loved The Silence of the Lambs and the Hannibal
Lecter series, this one puts it all together to see how Hannibal actually became the man he was...It starts back at his early
childhood and the things he encountered with the Germans and the Nazi prison camps and how he lost his mother and father and
sister... Great movie but kinda gory...
Eddie and the Cruisers I and II- Also another one of my favorites,
Starring Micheal Parre. He plays Eddie Wilson a talented young artist whose dream was to make it to the top with his group
but was told he was not good enough so he ends his life and career to hide from society in Canada.. With the love of
a young artist he finds love once more and through her encouragement finds the respect of the people... It was an awesome
movie, I liked the second one better but both were very good and the music was outstanding. Most songs performed were from
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band Soundtrack, this one is hard to find but if you do have the opportunity to see it,
it's a really good movie...
Talk To Me- Inspired by a true story.. Ex-con Petey Greene
talks his way onto WOL Radio with his "tell it like it is" attitude which gains him recognition throughout DC area...
Etertaining and refreshing...A must see...
You Don't Mess With the Zohan- This was a very humorous movie but
not one I would suggest letting your kids watch due to the sexual overtones. Adam Sandler plays an Isreali who was once a
mecenary for his country but wants to come to America to persue his dream as a hair stylist and falls in love with a Palistinian
woman who gives him a chance to fulfill his dream..If you are in the mood for a good laugh, Adam Sandler sure does give that..
Free Ride- This is a touching story of a young man and his
battles through life and how he was given a second chance to straighten up his life by playing football.. It's a
real tear jerker and hit home...
Spankey- Men Are Sluts- A hilarious comedy special that intertwines
mens sexuality and real life.. He's a real trip, not suggested for those under 18 and those deeply religious he uses
procreation within his humor, a bit vulger !!!
Over Her Dead Body- A comical story about a woman who dies
and just won't let go of her one and only love due to her death on her wedding day, she torments the one person who is trying
to help her husband get over her tragic death.. Cute movie, worth seeing!!!!!
Bobby - This is a true story based on the life of Robert F. Kennedy
and all he went through as he ran for the Presidency..
This truly is a real tear jerker so get your tissues and enjoy...
Flight 93 - This movie is about the Terrorist Attacks that occured
Sept. 11 2001 and the heroics of 44 people who saved the lives of millions.. Can't tell ya anymore, it's definitely a watcher
but again, get your tissues and if ya ran out, get more seriously....
Soul Men- If you are a music fan of the oldies, you will enjoy this
one, Issac Hayes stars in this one, too kool. It's about a group who split called the "Real Deal" one of their members dies
and they are asked to get back together to perform at his funeral. It's hilarious and a true must see.
Mirrors- If you are into the
gore, you will find this one most intriguing. A night watchman takes a job at a closed down department store only to find
there is wierd things happening within the mirrors of the store that went back to an old psychiatric hospital buried underneath
that was used to treat those who suffer from schizophrenia. I 'm not gonna tell you anymore, this is another must see that
will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Doubt- Merele Streep plays an interesting role of a principle
within a Catholic School, a new priest is transferred in and finds a bond with one of it's young Afro-American
students who was transferred from a public school to there due to racism and out of fear. If you like religious type movies
you will probably enjoy this one but I must warn you the context of the movie may not be appreciated by some. This movie won
an Academy award, hope you enjoy it....
Something The Lord Made - This is a true story about the
first heart surgery that was done on what was known as blue babies. It stars Alan Rickman and Mos Def. Truly a movie worth
seeing....****
Our House- Starring Doris Roberts is a very moving story
about a woman who opens her heart and her home to help less fortunate people. Doris Roberts plays a woderful role, a movie
worth seeing... **** Rating in my book!!!!
