The chief called himself Takota which is Souix for "friend to everyone", he even gave me a
name, he said I shall call you Nikan, "my friend". We talked about the battles that once took place in the area we were standing.
He said the Indian tribesmen use to cut down the pinoaks to make spears for wild bore hunting and they also use to use the
spears during battle. He said the land was just as flourished as it once had been and had asked if I would allow some of their
people to come to take some of the trees within the woods. I had no problem with them coming, just as long as there would
be no problems and they would not destroy my land or my home.
