Do you believe in haunted houses? Well I do and would like
to share a story with you.
It was a cold rainy night, my car broke down out in the middle of nowhere
and I had to try to find some help. There was an old house that sat down at the end of a dark desolate street so I decided
I would try to get some help and made my way down the road. I walked up the overgrown cracked sidewalk towards the house.
The wind was blowing and howling and the trees were swaying and brushing against the windows making an eerie sound .
The house was a two story victorian style home, it had a wrap around porch that encircled three-fourths of the house.
Heavy oak doors secured the house with two large brass door knobs and a brass door knocker that was centered in the middle
of the left door.
As I went to knock on the door it opened slowly allowing me to gain
entry but nobody seemed to be there. I proceeded into the foyer frightened and unaware of just what lay ahead. In a low shakey
voice I asked if anyone was there but nobody answered. I looked around to see if I could find a telephone to call for
help. I found one in a small sitting room off to left of the foyer but it had no dial tone so I knew I would either have to
stay in the house for the night or go back out in the rain so I chose to take my chances with the house.
I was beginning to get a bit hungry so I made my way down a long dark
hallway towards a kitchen at the end of the hallway. As I made my way down the hallway I began to notice the pictures on the
walls were beginning to move up and down, back and forth with each step I took, things were beginning to get quite wierd but
I proceeded on. I reached the kitchen, it looked as if I was walking back in time. A dumb waiter was situated on the east
wall along with a pantry. On the north wall a large stainless steel stove sat centered on the wall. On the west wall a tall
stainless steel refigerator was centered with counters on each side. An island was centered in the middle of the room with
cupboards all around it that held dishes, pots and pans. I opened the refrigerator to see if there was anything I could eat
in there and found containers of unidentifiable food and a silver pitcher of a blood red substance. I quickly closed the refigerator
and looked in the pantry for any identifiable type of food. I found a pack of crackers and some peanut butter so I decided
that would have to be my supper for the night along with a glass of water. I quickly ate and was beginning to get sleepy so
I made my way up the stairway that was just beyond the kitchen. as I reached the top I heard a loud hissing noise behind me,
I quickly turned to see a bright light and a ball of fire. I fell to the ground trying to avoid getting hit. The fireball
faded off into the dark of the night so I stood back up and proceeded on my journey hoping to find somewhere I could just
lay my head for a few hours and get some sleep. As I proceeded down the hallway I noticed a room on the right so I entered
the room. Alas a bed I thought to myself, I laid down and quickly drifted off to sleep. A few hours later I was awakened by
a cold breeze just above my bed, I looked around to see if a window could have possibly blown open but saw a large dark cloaked
figure situated just above me. I tensed in fear not knowing just what this figure was or what it was doing. It lingered there
for a few more moments then disappeared. At that point I could see that the sun was just starting to rise. I ran out of the
room and back down the stairway. When I reached the bottom I noticed the house had changed, the rooms looked different and
strange. What once use to be the kitchen was now an empty room that was dark. I stood looking in amazement , within a few
moments an eerie green glow filled the room and a pentigram appeared in the middle of the floor with candles all around it.
A chanting began to fill the room and the dark cloaked figure appeared with it's arms opened wide. That was enough for
me, I turned and ran towards the set of doors that was down the hallway. What a strange experience I thought to myself but
one I hope I would never have to experience again. I walked back down the road towards my car shivering from
the morning air praying my car would start. Who said haunted houses don't exist I thought to myself and sighed with relief .
