Christmas is stillness and the hope, someday of worldwide peace
The longings of the human heart yet caught up in the noise of frantic living
The clinging to power and control but unmoved, unwilling to risk knowledge that challanges our equanimity
Christmas, blind to voices, colors that triumph truth
but still elevates the mind, dismissing Spirit with deafining waterfalls
that spray life over rock and soil
Christmas admidst the world's need for education and food
As scholars split life into catagories of right and wrong, good and bad
while our petty judgements fall like hammer blows
we still fail to tend the earth and cries from the forests, wetlands and slums
with a world asleep, when we must awaken and stay awake
Christmas with pageants, parties, gifts, merriment...the sentimental strains of carols and maybe once, to
see what it could be if once....
we could look at the mystery with inner eyes, falling in love with Love itself.
Reach down, Love on this silent Holy Night
Perhaps one person is waits and watches, perhaps one heart is ready..
Oh, this rare gift, hidden in plain sight.....
